Sir James Stephen 1789-1859. Colonial Under-Secretary '36-'47, instrumental in implementing the slavery abolition act
. Nicknamed 'King Stephen' who 'literally ruled the colonies' because of his vast knowledge of constitutional law and his influence over his superiors. Later Professor of Modern History at Cambridge.
Doctor Harold Moody, 1882- 1946. A physician from Jamaica who practiced in Peckham Rye, London (which was posh at the time). Also a preacher who advocated for civil rights. Bust done by his brother.
